報(bào)告內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介：
    Over the past decade the Chinese economic gains have impressed Americans and caused a variety of reactions. To discuss these reactions primarily through a selection of relevant articles that have appeared in newspaper the Johnson City Press (Tennessee) since 2006.  Its inclusion by the local news editors gives an idea of how the reading public is informed on an issue on which the public needs to be knowledgeable. American concerns range from a fear of losing manufacturing potential and being overtaken as the leading economy in the world to stressing areas of cooperation and peaceful competition with China. The implications of this journalistic discussion are important because of its impact on the course of American thinking concerning China and how it may influence future policy.

    Full professor of East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee. A Ph.D. of Russian History from Ohio State University. Study fields: East-central Europe, China, Modern France.
